I am a software developer, container enthusiast, Docker Community leader. However I’m an an engineer, I don’t say software engineer.

By my studies, I’m a packaging technology engineer. I did work in that field for more than a decade. When Web 2.0 arrived in the mid 2000’s, I picked up a new hobby: making stuff for the web. It all started with a photo blog on blogger.com where I shared my digital photos with friends. Of course I wanted to tweak the looks of my blog, so I had to get familiar with HTML and CSS. Later on I moved away from blogger, building a static site from scratch. Other people came and asked me to help putting their stuff on the web, so I started experimenting with WordPress, Flash(!! yep, I’m that old) and stuff like that, picking up PHP and JavaScript into the list of languages I had an idea of. I think the tipping point was when I started to work with the Laravel PHP framework: it’s clean, understandable, well structured codebase tought me a lot about programming. I was amazed how easily I can create things,… things that I never imagined I could. After that the hobby slowly transformed into a source of extra income and later my second profession.

I built up the confidence in this and applied for my first ever job as a developer in 2015. I got hired as a junior PHP developer. Obviously the first project I was assigned on was written in NodeJS, but that’s OK. Fortunately, I had the chance to work with great and experienced people, so my skills and knowledge started to improve drastically. In 2018 I got hired by one of the best software companies in Budapest. Since then I practice Extreme Programming on a daily basis and fell in love with container technology.

I worked with Docker from 2017, but what really cought me was the Community I was lucky to meet at DockerConEU 2018. I became a passionate member of the Budapest Docker Community, gave several talks on meetups and in 2020 I was chosen to be one of the Leaders of this branch.

I enjoy working with NodeJS and PHP and evertything about containers, let it be dockerized local environments, image building, build pipelines, Swarm or Kubernetes deployments. In this blog I’m planning to focus on these.
